Sirsasana

Salamba Sirsana means supported head pose. Salamba means with support, Sirsa means head,  and asana translates into posture. Popularly known as Headstand B.K.S. Iyengar wrote in his Light on Yoga,  “The ancient books have acalled Sirsana the king of all asanas.” It is imperative to always do Salamba Sarvangasana, Fully Supported All Limbs Pose, known to many as shoulderstand after headstand.  There are many variations of the arms and several leg movments that can be done in Sirsasana.  Also the use of props such a rope wall, blocks, chairs, can be used to achieve headstand with proper alignment. Working with an experienced Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher can help you practice this pose with intelligence.
