Inward

Yoga practice helps us to shift our prospective. For instance, how do you look out through your eyes? It is important to keep an upward gaze when standing or sitting upright. There are times when the eyes should be directed down into the chest such as during pranayama. Pranayama translates to breath expansion in english. When one feels depressed, moody, or agitated one should avoid pranayama and work with postures that promote  contentment.  By placing our anatomical sheath into different positions our minds naturally become re-directed. Sometimes we have have to change our mind to do the pose. For instance, it is normal to encounter fear and doubt as one learns the postures. However, with an open mind you may be surprised to learn what is possible.
